President - Mike Pratt
President
Name: Mike Pratt
Officer position: President Year 2 - that’s right first year was so good they asked for seconds…
When did you start 4-wheeling: I started wheeling in 1987 in a 78 CJ-5 with a 304 v8 to get into the back woods of North Carolina to do a little hunting and fishing. That’s also where the building started. Lift kit, engine rebuilt, paint and body work all in the driveway. Probably why they created HOA’s
What year did you join K&I: 2013
What brought you to K&I: I was looking for wheeling opportunities. At that point I was lucky to get out once a quarter.
What kind of rig(s) do you have: I daily an 07 JK Rubicon but the main rig is a 1966 CJ-6, or what’s left of it. Evil-Bay description was not accurate, so it got “Modified”. Then there is the Ugly square eyed redhead…94 vintage (YJ) that has been robbed of its axles. Plan is to put tons under it so I can hang out with the cool kids. I also have a late 70’s CJ-5 that’s down to paint. Another Evil-Bay description inaccuracy that my wife Linda bought. Finally, there is also a 1951 CJ-3A project sitting in the barn that just needs “put together”. Another Evil-Bay purchase that surprisingly was better than expected.
What do you love about off roading?: Building rigs, pushing my abilities and comfort level. Meeting great people and traveling to great locations to wheel.
What are your goals/hopes for the coming year?: The plan for the club this year is to have a increased focus on the wheeling aspect with a goal of continuing to enhance the members’ experience. Additionally, we plan to continue the success that the club has had with regards to member growth, off-road environmental involvement and charity work.
Favorite wheeling destination?: East of the Mississippi - Tackett Creek/Windrock area. West of the river… New Mexico. At this point, wherever I’m wheeling is my favorite spot. I know lame answer, time on this rock is short so you should enjoy the ride wherever it is…
